The Chula Vista Civic Center Complex initially began with ground up construction of a new City Hall facility for the city. This new City Hall incorporated offices for the City Manager, Mayor, Council offices, Finance, City Attorney offices, and others. A new city council chambers was blended into the balance of the existing City Hall, maintaining the historical integrity of the previous Spanish colonial architecture.
The balance of the project included extensive renovation of the existing Public Service Building, and the former Old Police Station. This design/build project commenced in February 2003 and was completed in Fall 2008. In addition to a total gross build-out area of approximately 118,000 square feet, extensive site work was incorporated into the project to unify the three various structures.
